Carmageddon or Carmaheaven? Air Quality Results of a Freeway Closure

Dr. Arthur Winer and Dr. Yifang Zhu from the Department of Environmental Health Sciences along with Dr. Suzanne Paulson from the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science used fixed-site monitors to demonstrate that air quality improved significantly as a result of a substantial decrease in traffic during the 2011 closure of the I-405 freeway.
